After a victorious home opener for all Gaucho squads on March 7, our Gauchos faced SPSV at our first away meet, at the Crockett community pool on March 14. Though missing several swimmers, our deep girls squad pulled out a 95-65 victory! The boys team swam hard, having many first and second place finishes, but were outnumbered by the Bruins, and lost 66-94. Standout performances included Junior Hollyce Bauer narrowly out-touching her opponent in a win in both the girls 50 and 100 free, Senior Athena Shiozaki’s win in the girls 100 breaststroke, and a 1-2-3 Gaucho finish in the boys 100 backstroke by Senior Kenji Malaowala, Junior Alden Houser, and Sophomore Alex Jacox. Our Gaucho JV squad also had some great swims, and both the girls and boys JV teams won unopposed.
